Description
This fluorapatite crystal is from the Shigar Valley, Shigar District, Gigit-Baltistan, Pakistan. There are numerous granitic pegmatites in this area and they contain fifty-one different minerals including the phosphate fluorapatite. It contains the elements Ca, P, O, F. This specimen consists of a double terminated pink (rarer of the colors) fluorapatite crystal that has a tabular hexagonal shape.It has an albite and a mica crystal attached to it. This thumbnail sized piece measures approximately 20 x 15 x 6 mm.
