This fluorapatite is from the Borborema Mineral Province in the Rio Grande do Norte State of Brazil. there are dozens of mines in this area and they contain almost 200 different minerals including fluorapatite. It is a phosphate mineral that contains the elements Ca, P, O and F, It is commonly found in hydrothermal veins and pegmatites. This specimen consists of a wafer-like tabular feldspar crystal matrix that hosts barrel shaped apatite crystals and small quartz crystals. This piece measures 1 5/8 x 1 3/8 x 1/2 inches or 41 x 35 x 12 mm.
