Description
This epidote is from the Pampa Blanco District, Ica Department of Peru. This encompasses a large area that contains three recognized mineral species. It is most famous for the occasional epidote crystal clusters found there. Epidote is a silicate that contains the elements Ca, Fe, Al, Si , O and H. This specimen is from a classic find about 20 years ago. The crystals form a fan like cluster made up of large, lustrous and all are terminated. They are dark green with lighter green highlights. There are contact areas at the rear and base that are healed. The piece measures 3 3/16 x 2 5/16 x 1 inches or 82 x 59 x 25
