Description
This enargite is from the Hunan Province of China. There is no detailed information about the locale other than Hunan. This province is highly mineralized and contains almost a hundred different mines. The mines contain over three-hundred different minerals including enargite. It is a sulfide that contains the elements Cu, As and S. This specimen consists of a cluster of interpenetrating enargite crystals. The crystals have prismatic to tabular habits and some appear to be spinel twins. They are randomly oriented and form a haystack-like formation that has terminated crystals on all sides. It measures 1 1/4 x 15/16 x 3/4 inches or 32 x 24 x 19 mm.
