Dumortierite in Quartz or “Blue Quartz” from Bahia

These dumortierite crystals are from the Vaca Morta quarry in Serra da Vereda, Boquira, Bahia Brazil. This locale is mined from the recovery of blue quartz. It gets its color from inclusions of the mineral dumortierite which is a silicate that contains the elements Al, Fe, Si, O and B. Quartz both in massive and crystal form are found at the mine and this is an example of a translucent quartz crystals with inclusions of silken dumortierite crystals in it’s core at it’s base and just below it’s surface.
