Description
This duftite on mimetite is from the Tsumeb Mine in the Oshikoto Region, Namibia. This famous locale with its unique two oxide zones has produced over 300 different minerals and is the type locale for over 70 including duftite. This piece consists of an oxide covered crystalline calcite matrix that has mineral deposits on both sides. One side hosts druse yellowish mimetite crystals that host druse green duftite crystals. The reverse side (photo 5) hosts mimetite crystals up to 3-4 mm in length. This piece measures 4 1/2 x 3 x 1 1/8 inches or 114 x 75 x 28 mm.
