Description
This specimen is from Inca de Oro in the Chanaral/Copiapo Provinces, Atacama Region, Chile. This area is mined for copper but it contains fifty-five different minerals including chrysocolla and quartz. This specimen consists of an altered gossan matrix that is covered with botryoidal chrysocolla and crystalline malachite which in turn has been covered with sugar-like druse quartz crystals. This piece measures 5 x 3 5/8 x 1 5/8 inches or 127 x 92 x 41 mm.
