This dravite tourmaline is from the Pomba Pit in Serra das Egus, Brumado, Bahia, Brazil. This mine is a commercial producer of magnesite and talc however dravite and other accessory minerals, including emeralds are found there.The mine owners enforce a ban on mineral collecting that includes the miners that work there. Dravite is a silicate and it contains the elements; Na, Mg, Al, Si, O, B and H. This crystal has a tabular habit, is brown and has a bright vitreous luster. It has some magnesite crystal matrix attached. This piece measures 1/2 x 7/16 x 3/8 inches or 12.5 x 7 x 9 mm.
