These dravite tourmalines are from the Pomba Pit in Serra das Egus, Brumado, Bahia, Brazil. This mine is a commercial producer of magnesite and talc however dravite and other accessory minerals, including emeralds are found there.The mine owners enforce a ban on mineral collecting that includes the miners that work there. Dravite is a silicate and it contains the elements; Na, Mg, Al, Si, O, B and H. Magnesite is a carbonate that contains the elements Mg, C and O. This piece consists of brown prismatic dravite tourmalines on a rhombic magnesite crystal matrix. This is a double sided piece that can be displayed to highlight either mineral. This piece measures 1 3/4 x 1 3/8 x 1 1/8 inches or 45 x 35 x 28 mm.
