This diopside is from Alchuri in the Shigar Valley, Skardu District of Gilgit-Balistan, Pakistan. Diopside is in the Pyroxene Group of minerals and it contains the elements Ca, Mg, O, and Si. It can be found in a variety of different colors which are produced by trace impurities in the crystal lattice. This specimen is a doubled sided crystal plate that contains dozens of translucent to transparent glass-like crystals. The crystals are prismatic with pyramidal terminations. There are some minor bysollite deposits associated with the piece. It measures 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 1 1/8 inches or 64 x 38 x 28 mm.
