Description
This diopside is from Chamachhu in the Haramosh Mountains of the Skardu District of Gilgit-Balistan, Pakistan. Diopside is in the Pyroxene Group of minerals and it contains the elements Ca, Mg, O, and Si. The mineral can be found in different colors that are produced by traces different elements. This crystal has a rich green color which is caused by traces of the element chromium. It is translucent to transparent and has a vitreous to glass luster. It is double terminated and has an excellent crystal morphology. It is a small miniature that measures 1 1/8 x 3/16 x 1/8 inches or 28 x 5 x 3 mm.
