This datolite with copper is from the Copper Falls Mine in the Keweenaw County of Michigan, USA. Mining for copper in the Upper Peninsular of Michigan began thousands of years ago by the indigenous people. There were over a hundred commercial mines starting in the 1800’s. Seventeen different minerals were identified at this mine. It is a unique specimen consists of a combination of euhedral datolite crystals with inclusions of native copper. The crystals are translucent and colored by the inclusions of the small, metallic crystals. It is a small miniature that measures 1 5/16 x 7/8 x 3/4 inches or 33 x 22 x 19 mm.
