This crocoite is from the famous Adelaide mine in the Dundas mineral field, Zeehan District, Tasmania, Australia. This operation was a silver-lead mine that produced world class specimens during mining. Crocoite is a chromate that contains the elements Pb, Cr, and O. Specimens from this locale are highly sort after. This specimen consists randomly oriented “jackstraw” crystal formations mixed with glauberite. There are excellent crystal displays on all sides of the piece. They have a orang/red color and a glistening vitreous luster. This piece measures 2 3/4 x 2 x 1 5/8 inches or 70 x 50 x 41 mm.
There may be minor shedding of crystals during shipment but this should not effect the aesthetics of the piece.
