Copper – Rare Cubic Crystal from the Indiana Mine

These native copper crystals are from the Indiana Mine in Winona, Greenland Township, Ontonagan County, Michigan, USA. The Indiana Mine has been idle for about a hundred years but copper specimens can be recovered from the remaining mine piles. This specimen is a true find with a hook like crystaline  formation topped with a larger dodecahedral crystal that hosts a well defined cubic crystal. Copper crystals in cubic form is one of the rarer crystal habits. This piece measures 1 5/8 x 3/4 x 3/8 inches or 41 x 20 x 9 mm.
