Description
This native copper crystal floater is from the Cliff Mine at Phoenix, Keweenaw County, Michigan, USA. This mine started operation in 1845. It was the first profitable mine on the Keweenaw peninsula. Forty different minerals were found there including native copper. This specimen consists of attached well defined large crystals. It is terminated all around with no matrix attachment point (a floater). It measures approximately 1 13/16 x 1 1/2 x 1/2 inches or 46 x 38 x 13 mm.
