This large vein copper specimen is from Blue Ridge Summit in the Hamiltonban Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania, USA. The Blue Ridge Summit area contains several known copper deposits although none have proven economically viable for commercial mining ventures due to the geologic conditions. This is a rather large vein section with minor calcite and green schist scattered about or thinly sandwiching on both sides of the piece. The copper exhibits crude sheet-like crystallization with exposed vugs and veining on most surfaces. It measures approximately 6 3/4 x 5 3/8 x 1 1/2 inches or 172 x 136 x 38 mm. It weighs 4 pound and 1 oz.
