This native copper is from Ajo, Ajo Mountains, Ajo Mining District, Pima County, Arizona. This district is mined primarily for the recovery of copper, silver and gold ores. It contains over 80 different mineral species including native. This particular specimen is a sheet-like formation with minor matrix attached. The sheet is made up of a layer of arborescent copper crystals with and average width of a few mm. It measures 4 3/16 x 2 5/8 x 1/4 inches or 106 x 67 x 7 mm over all.
