Description
This cobaltoan calcite is from the Bou Azer District in Tazenakht, Ouarzazte Province, Souss-Massa-Draa Region of Morocco. This area is rich in mineral and ore deposits. It contains several commercial cobalt and silver mines. It also contains 233 different mineral species including cobaltoan calcite which is the cobalt rich variety of calcite. It is a carbonate that contains the elements Ca, Co and C. This This specimen consist of a small remnant matrix that is covered on the display side with lustrous rose colored crystals. This piece measures approximately 3 3/16 x 1 7/8 x 1 1/4 inches or 81 x 47 x 32 mm.
