Description
These childrenite crystals are from Linopolis, Divino das Laranjeiras, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil. This area is in the Aimores Pegmatite District and many outstanding mineral and mineral specimens are recovered and sold on the worldwide market. The famous Corrego Frio Mine, which is the type locale for brazilianite, is located here also. Childrenite may be found in association with brazilianite and other minerals in phosphate rich pegmatites. It contains the elements Fe, Al, P, O and H. This specimen consists of vee twinned childrenite crystals that have a beige color and a resinous to greasy luster. The crystals are large for the species and they are also double terminated. This piece measures 1 x 7/8 x 1/2 inches or 25 x 22 x 12 mm.
