This childrenite crystals are from Linopolis, Divino das Laranjeiras, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil. This area is in the Aimores Pegmatite District and many outstanding mineral and mineral specimens are found there including childrenite. It is a phosphate that contains the elements Fe, Al, P O, and H. This piece consists of a cluster of large (for the species) crystals. They have vertical striations on the prism faces and a matte to vitreous luster. They have varying degrees of translucency. The cluster is primarily parallel double terminated crystals with secondary almost perpendicular crystals attached. This piece measures 1 1/8 x 1 1/16 x 9/16 inches or 28 x 26 x 14 mm.
