Description
These chalcocite crystals are from the Steward Mine, Butte Mining District, Butte-Silver Bow, Montana, USA. This is a large highly mineralized district containing hundreds of mines which produce 145 different minerals including chalcocite. it is copper sulfide containing the elements Cu and S. This piece is a mound shaped specimen whose display side is covered with dozens of well defined chalcocite crystals. It measures 1 5/8 x 1 3/16 x 7/8 inches or 41 x 31 x 22 mm.
