This cerussite is from Broken Hill in the Broken Hill District in Yacowinna County, New South Wales, Australia. The district contains a large Pb-Zn-Ag deposit that contains dozens of mines. Hundreds of different minerals have been identified in the area including cerussite and coronadite. Cerussite is a lead carbonate containing the elements Pb, C and O while coronadite is a lead oxide that contains Pb, Mn and O. This piece is a stalactitelike deposits consisting of a mix of the two minerals in parallel rows. The display side (photo 1) contains reticulated as well as euhedral crystals of cerussite. This piece measures 1 3/8 x 1 x 13/16 inches or 35 x 25 x 20 mm.
