Description
This celestite geode is from the Sakoany Deposit near the Katsepy Commune, Mitsinjo District, Boeny Region, Mahajanga (Mujunga) Province, Madagascar. This is a famous locale that has produced tons of specimens. Celestite is in the Baryite Group of minerals and it is found in sedimentary rocks. it is a sulfate containing the elements Sr, S, and O. This specimen is a geode type formation with a crystalline exterior and a core filled with transparent, glass like, crystals. They have an excellent blue color and sharp, distinct, crystal habits. The crystals are in outstanding condition. This piece measures 2 3/4 x 2 1/8 x 1 1/4 inches. or 70 x 54 x 32 mm.
