This carrollite crystal is from Kamoya, in the Kambove District, Katanga Copper Cresent, Katanga, D.R. Congo. There are six commercial mines in this area and they contain fifteen different minerals including carrollite. It is a sulfide and a cobalt ore, containing the elements Cu, Co, S. This specimen consists of a white crystalline calcite matrix that hosts a mirror bright silver carrollite crystal. It is intact and complete with a sharp crystal morphology. The piece measures 2 x 1 5/8 x 1 1/2 inches or 50 x 41 x 38 mm. The crystal is 12 mm tall and has an octahedral habit.
