This carletonite is from Mont Saint-Hilaire in La Vallee-du-Richelieu RCM, Monteregie, Quebec, Canada which is the type locale. Carletonite is an uncommon silicate that contains the elements K, Na, Ca, Si, O, C, F and H. The crystal system is tetragonal and they sometimes appear cubic in shape. This piece has a white to rich blue color and a matte to vitreous luster. This is a thumbnail sized piece that measures 1/2 x 3/8 x 3/8 inches or 13 x 9 x9 mm.
