Description
These calcites on sphalerites are from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, USA. It contains 6 different minerals including sphalerite, a sulfide of zinc and gangue minerals like calcite which is a carbonate. This specimen consists of a glistening sphalerite crystal matrix that host scalenahedral calcite crystals. The calcites are translucent to transparent and have an amber color. This piece measures approximately 1 x 1 x 3/4 inches or 25 x 25 x 19 mm.
