These sphalerite with calcite crystals are from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, US. This mine contains three shafts called the Elmwood, Cumberland, and Gordonsville. It has an entry slope called the Stonewall. They contain eleven different minerals including sphalerite which is the main ore mineral. This is a plate like formation of complex sphalerites that host several calcite crystals. Calcite is a common gangue mineral within the mine. This piece is a small miniature that measures 1 1/4 x 1 1/8 x 9/16 inches or 32 x 28 x 14 mm.
