Description
These calcite crystals are from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, US. This mine contains three shafts called the Elmwood, Cumberland, and Gordonsville. It has an entry slope called the Stonewall. They contain eleven different minerals including sphalerite which is the main ore mineral. These terminated translucent crystals with minor sphalerite matrix attached have an amber to honey color and a glass luster. There is a small bruise on one edge as shown in photo 3. This piece is a small cabinet that measures 2 1/4 x 1 5/8 x 1 1/8 inches or 57 x 41 x 28 mm.
