These calcites on sphalerites are from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, USA. This mine contains three shafts called the Elmwood, Cumberland, and Gordonsville. It has an entry slope called the Stonewall. They contain eleven different minerals including sphalerite which is the primary ore and gangue species like calcite. This specimen consists of a plate like formation of complex sphalerite crystals that host dozens of double terminated calcite crystals. This piece measures 3 x 1 7/8 x 1 inches or 77 x 47 x 25 mm
