This calcite crystal is from Egremont in Copeland, Cumbria, England, United Kingdom. This area contained several large mines and open pit operations that were operated for the recovery of various metals and ores. Over twenty different minerals were reportedly found at the long closed mines and excellent, now classic, calcite specimens were recovered for collection. This is a water clear crystal with internal reflections and a glassy luster. It has a hexagonal prism and a blunt scalenohedral or nailhead termination. It has a smaller secondary crystal near the base and thin crust of matrix on the bottom. It measures 1 13/16 x 5/8 x 9/16 inches or 46 x 16 x 14 mm.
