Description
This bullseye malachite is from Kolwezi in the Katanga province of the Congo. Stalactite and stalagmite type formations on of malachite are cut perpendicular to the formations exposing their interior. The slab or slice is then polished to a gem luster. The process reveals and accentuates the different generations of malachite that were deposited in concentric bands within the formations. The patterns resemble green bullseyes and hence the name was given to this type of malachite. This slab measures approximately 4 x 2 1/2 x 5/16 inches or 102 x 64 x 6 mm
