Description
These brochantite crystals are from the Likasi Mine, Likasi, Kambove District, Haut-Katanga Democratic Republic of the Congo. Over a dozen different mineral species have been identified at this copper mine including brochantite. It is a secondary copper sulfate containing the elements Cu, S, O and H. This piece consists of a gossan matrix that is covered with fibrous silk-like brochantite crystals on the display side. This piece measures 3 x 1 7/8 x 1 1/4 inches or 75 x 47 x 32 mm
