Description
This bournonite and tetrahedrite is from the Pachipaqui District, Bolognesi Province, Ancash Department of Peru. This district encompasses a large area containing several mines. There are 30 different minerals found in the district including bournonite and tetrahedrite. Bournonite is a sulfide that contains the elements Pb, Cu, Sb and S while tetrahedrite contains Cu, Fe, Zn, Sb and S. This specimen is a complex grouping of the two sulfides with attractive clusters of associated calcites. This piece measures 3 x 2 x 2 inches or 77 x 51 x 51 mm.
