This celestite geode is from the Sakoany Deposit near the Katsepy Commune, Mitsinjo District, Boeny Region, Mahajanga (Mujunga) Province, Madagascar. This is a famous locale that has produced tons of specimens. Celestite is in the Baryite Group of minerals and it is found in sedimentary rocks. it is a sulfate containing the elements Sr, S, and O. This specimen is a shallow geode type formation with a crystalline exterior and a core filled with transparent, glass-like crystals. The crystals are translucent to transparent and they have a glass luster. It measures 3 3/8 x 2 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches or 85 x 57 x 32 mm.
