This morganite crystal floater is from the Urucum Mine (Tin Mine), Galileia, Doce Valley Minas Gerais, Brazil. This mine follows a granite pegmatite that contains 45 different minerals species including several gem varieties. Morganite is the pink variety of beryl which is a silicate containing the elements Be, Al, Si, and O. This specimen is a “floater” crystal that has recrystallized and altered in hydrothermal fluids after it detached from its’ host matrix. All surfaces are intact and complete and intact. This pink beryl crystal is translucent to transparent with a glass luster. It measures 1 1/2 x 3/4 x 5/8 inches or 38 x 19 x 16 mm.
