Description
This morganite is from Conselheiro Pena in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This is a large district that contains many pegmatite occurences that are mined by several well known operations as well as many smaller mines and diggings. The pegmatites contain several different gemstones including the golden yellow variety of beryl called heliodor. The crystal has a semi-hexagonal shape and a glassy luster on the front and rear surfaces. The prism faces have lightly etched growth patterns. It measures approximately 61 x 30 x 28 mm.
