Description
These barite crystals are from Cerro Warihuyn in Mira Flores, Huamalias Province, of the Huanuco Department, Peru.This area is prospected by the locals for mineral specimens and it contains five different mineral species. One of the most desirable specimens for collectors are the barites, It is a sulfate containing the elements Ba, S and O. This specimen consists of a sandstone matrix that hosts crystals on most surfaces. The display side hosts single and rosette type formations of crystals They are all transparent, have a tabular morphology and a glass luster. It is an excellent display piece measuring 2 15/16 x 1 9/16 x 1 1/16 inches or 75 x 39 x 27 mm.
