This barite (baryte) is from Stoneham in Weld County, Colorado, USA. This area contains a handful of minerals but is famous for the quality barite specimens found there. Barite is a sulfate that contains the elements Ba,S and O. This piece consists of several parallel crystals with a lone crystal protruding from them at about a 45 % angle. The crystals are blue, translucent to transparent and they have a greasy luster. It measures 2 1/8 x 1 1/8 x 1 1/2 inches or 53 x 28 x 38 mm.
