Azurite with Malachite from the Anhui Province

This azurite is from the Tongshan Mine in the Guichi District, Chizhou Prefecture, Anhui Province, China. This is a copper-gold deposit that contains almost 30 different minerals including the attractive azurite malachite combinations for which it is known. Azurite and malachite are copper carbonates that contain the elements Cu, C, O and H. This piece is a vug filled malachite matrix whose exposed cavities are lined with lustrous azurite crystals. It measures 1 7/8 x 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches or 47 x 45 x 45 mm.
