Description
This azurite is from the Tongshan Mine in the Guichi District, Chizhou Prefecture, Anhui Province, China. This is a copper-gold deposit that contains almost 30 different minerals including the attractive azurite malachite combinations for which it is known. Azurite and malachite are copper carbonates that contain the elements Cu, C, O and H. This piece consists of a mixed matrix of fibrous malachite that hosts contrasting crystals of azurite. The rear surface is sawed. It measures 3 3/8 x 2 11/16 x 1 inches or 86 x 68 x 25 mm.
