Mining at this locale began in 2006 with the extraction of copper minerals. Thirty-six mineral species have been identified at the mine including world class azurites. It is a secondary copper carbonate containing the elements Cu, C and O. Mining started in several copper oxide zones where the carbonate minerals including azurite were found. This specimen consists of a large spearhead shaped complex crystal with minor matrix on the rear surface. This piece measures 1 3/16 x 1 1/8 x 9/16 inches or 30 x 28 x 14 mm.
