Description
These autunite crystals are from the Nanjingqiao U deposit in Pingjiang County, Yueyang, Hunan, China. Two different uranium minerals are said to come from this locale and one is autunite. It is a uranium phosphate that contains the elements Ca, U, P, O and H. This specimen consists of a quartz matrix that hosts book-like clusters of yellow to green autinite crystals. The crystals are like thin square pages within the books. This piece is a small miniature that measures 31 x 20 x 15 mm.
