Description
This augelite is from Rapid Creek In the Dawson Mining District, Yukon Canada. This area contains several locales that contain over a dozen mines and diggings. The deposits contain a variety of phosphate minerals including the rare phosphate augelite. It contains the elements Al, P, O, and H. This specimen consists of a quartz matrix that is covered on all sides with augelite crystals from druse to 7mm in size. They are mostly translucent with a glass luster. The crystals are colorless to green in color and some have inclusions of brown siderite. There are also some small siderite crystals localized on areas of the piece. It measures 1 1/2 x 1 x 13/16 inches or 38 x 25 x 20 mm.
