Description
These atacamite crystals are from the Copiago Province, Atacama, Chile. This highly mineralized province contains dozens of mines that contain hundreds of different mineral species including possibly the best atacamite specimens known. Atacamite is a copper chloride that contains the elements Cu, O, H, and Cl. This specimen consists of a gossan matrix that hosts radiating clusters of prismatic atacamite crystals along with gemmy druses of atacamite. There are deposits of blue/green chrysocolla on the piece also. It measures 4 3/8 x 3 x 1 1/8 inches or 113 x 76 x 28 mm
