This aquamarine crystal is from Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil. This area contains dozens of mines that operate in the many pegmatite deposits found there, Over 25 different minerals can be found there including aquamarine. This specimen is a double terminated crystal that has been altered in the hydro-thermal fluids in which it formed. The prism faces have a distorted hexagonal shape with lightly etched surfaces and a glass luster. The terminations are complex and hoppered. The crystal measures approximately 83 x 8 x 7 mm.
