Description
These apophyllite crystals are from the Fengjiashan Mine (Daye copper mine) in Daye Co., Huangshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, China. This is a copper – iron and deposit that contains 26 mineral species. The owners are now mining it for wollastonite a Silicate mineral. This specimen It consists of a greenish, included, quartz crystal that hosts tabular appophyllite. It is a zeolite and it contains the elements Ca, Mn, Fe, H, Si, And O. The crystals are on 3 sides of the quartz crystal. The rear side of the tip is a healed contact point ( photo 3 ) as is the base. This specimen measures 1 5/8 x 1 x 7/8 inches or 41 x 25 x 22 mm.
