This amethyst is from Piedras Parado in the Mun de Tatatlila, Veracruz, Mexico.This locale contains 6 different minerals including the world famous amethyst specimens found there. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz which is a silicate containing the elements Si and O. In pure form quartz is colorless however it can be found in different colors that are caused by trace impurities in the crystal lattice. This outstanding piece consists of a matrix made made up of druse quartz and epidote crystals that hosting multiple randomly oriented crystal clusters of amethyst. The crystals are typical for the location with translucent white to colorless bases and transparent violet tips. They have a glass luster and are in pristine condition that is free from any damage. It measures 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches or 82 x 64 x 38 mm.
