This amethyst scepter is from Hiddenite, Alexander County, North Carolina, USA. There are several open digs and mines still operating in the area primarily for the recovery of emeralds, hiddenite and mineral specimens. Over 40 different minerals have been identified including the silicate amethyst. This piece consists of a smokey quartz crystal shaft that is topped with a transparent amethyst crystal cap. The scepter is double terminated. This piece measures 3 1/8 x 7/8 x 11/16 or 79 x 22 x 17 mm.
