This aegirine with microline is from Mt Malosa in the Chilwa Alkaline Pegmatite Province, Zomba District, Malawi. There are 55 different mineral that have been identified from this locale. There are several diggings and mines in this area and the local population extract different mineral specimens for collectors. Aegirine is a silicate that contains the elements Na, Fe, Si and O. This aegirine specimen has a well defined morphology with sharp edges and corners. This is a lustrous, black, crystal that is partially covered with microline and zircon crystals. It is an aesthetic piece and it can be displayed from any angle or side and measures 2 1/2 x 1 3/4 x 1 3/8 inches or 64 x 44 x 35 mm.
