Description

This acanthite is from the Imitier Mine in the Imiter Mine in the Imiter District, Tinghir Province, Draa-Tafilalet Region of Morocco.. This is a large silver mine that contains 70 minerals including acanthite. It is a silver sulfide found in the oxidation zones of silver ore deposits and It  contains the elements Ag and S. This specimen consists of several well defined silver-grey acanthite crystals that form a double terminated formation with a flattened former attachment point on the back side (photo 3). This piece measures 1 1/4 x 13/16 x 9/16 inches or 33 x 20 x 15 mm.
